How to Know God Home

Fact #1

Every person needs to receive eternal life.  Why?  Because we have sinned against God.

(1) Sin is breaking God's Law, and everyone has broken it.  The Bible says...For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  (Romans 3:23).

(2) Sin separates us from God!  Your sins have separated you from your God and have hidden His face from you...(Isaiah 59:2).

(3)  Sin means Missing the Mark-And the person who keeps every law of God, but makes one little slip, is just as guilty as the person who has broken every law there is.  (James 2:10).  God's standard is perfection, and we have ALL missed the mark.  (No one is perfect, except God).

Fact #2

God loves sinful people and has provided one way to receive eternal life.  God's way to heaven is not Religion (church membership), Ritual (baptism), or Righteousness (doing your best)...God's way to heaven is Jesus!  The Bible says...And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name (except Jesus) under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.  Acts 4:12.  Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father but through me."  John 14:6.

Fact #3

You may receive eternal life now by following these steps:

(1) Recognize that eternal life is a GIFT:  The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Romans 6:23.  You can have the gift of eternal life by having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

(2) Realize that to receive this gift, you must turn from your sin and ask Jesus into your life, admit your need (you are a sinner) and be willing to turn from your sin (repent).  Repentance is turning away from your sin and turning toward Jesus Christ.  Repent and be converted that your sin may be blotted out.  (Acts 3:19).

(3) Receive Jesus Christ personally into your life by inviting Him into your heart.  The Bible says... Behold I (Jesus) stand at the door, I will come in to him and live with him, and he with Me.  (Revelation 3:20).

We all have important decisions to make in our lives, but the decision to know Jesus as your personal Savior is the most important. This decision affects the rest of your life here on earth and your eternal life. If you desire a relationship with God's Son Jesus, pray to him right now. If you are not sure what to say, then say the following prayer.

Jesus, I admit that I have sinned. I am sorry for the things I have done wrong. Please forgive my sin. I believe that You are the promised Messiah. Please become the Lord of my life and help me make the decisions to do the right thing. Help me to learn to have a relationship with You through prayer, church attendance, and reading my Bible every day. I pray this in Your name, amen.

Congratulations!  You are on your way to a new life in Jesus Christ.  Please email us at Grace Community Church and let us know of your decision to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.  The next step should be to find a Baptist Church in your community and be baptized.

What is baptism?
1 Peter 3:21 "and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ."

2 Corinthians 5:17 - "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come."

Romans 6:1-4 - "What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."

Galatians 3:27 "for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ."

Why should I be baptized?
John 3:5 - Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit."

Acts 2:37-38 - "When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, 'Brothers, what shall we do?' Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit'."

Jesus was baptized himself by John the Baptist in Matthew 3. Matthew 3:15 - Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness."

Romans 6:4 - "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."

Jesus commanded us to baptize others. Matthew 28:19-20 - "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."

Matthew 3:11 "I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire."

How should we be baptized?
Baptism in the Scriptures was done by immersion.
Acts 8:38 - "Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him."

Romans 6:4 "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."
